The ponds in Harbor Island are part of the storm water management system for the community. There are six (6) ponds that make up the system. The ponds help to control the water runoff that comes from the roads, driveways, and homes. The Association hires a pond management company, Aquatic Systems, to make sure the ponds are kept in good shape and meet the St. Johns River Water Management District storm water system maintenance requirements.

The Covenants and Restrictions state: “It is the responsibility of each lot owner whose lot abuts a lake (retention/detention area) to maintain the bank of the lake (retention/detention area) from said owner’s lot line to the waters’ edge and an easement is hereby granted to each such owner for such purpose.”
